Childhood crazies and fancies

Or what I had and what I wanted for the effing love of the blessed life!

The first thing I remember craving so much that it almost made me want to curl up into a ball was-dramatic(and  disappointing) pause- to be a Witch like Samantha from Bewitched (remember that show?).I tweak my lips and VOILA magic!I also adored this playhouse that her daughter had-all wooden and cozy with tiny furniture.Harry Potter was nowhere in the scene then -or  probably was and I hadn't read it then.I also LOVED Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie and her little room inside the bottle-it's decor in pink and gold with persian throw rugs, cushions and other ornate goodies.

Can we say BAh-LING!

Speaking of magical creatures,I've never had any special regard towards with unicorns. But fairies? That's something else.I had a rather weird obsession with  Tinkerbell.I believed in Tink,oh I did and there's this line from Peter Pan that's my absolute favourite-
"There ought to be one fairy for every boy and girl."
"Ought to be? Isn't there?"
"No. You see children know such a lot now, they soon don't believe in fairies, and every time a child says, 'I don't believe in fairies,' there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead."

I wanted a fairy of my own-not just any fairy,I wanted Tinker bell.

And oddly enough,I never prayed so that I could be a witch or have Tink spread some happy sparkles around me-I meditated(every day for 2 mins in my fluffy blue flannel bath gown).I guess being born in India does that to you- you inadvertently gravitate towards spirituality.

Among other fun things I remember longing for a tent in the jungle with a little gas lamp-hunched over a book,a sleeping bag lying in wait and fireflies forming a dome around the peak of the tent. And again, not just any tent- somewhat of a desert tent.My world is rather surreal- immensely real to me but may not be on the same perception of accepted standards of reality-and instead of being worried,I've always reveled in that.
something similar, except smaller and none of those chairs and tables  rubbish.
I'll also take the one in the movie The Holiday

And this

Slow, drawn groan of desire? Me too,my friend,me too.
This is the reason I could spend hours on Pinterest, haha!
Stay tuned for more whims, crazies and fancies!
Give me company, share some of yours?

Against my better judgement

I'm going to watch Breaking Dawn today.I mean, what can I say?I like watching people being ripped off by other Godly un-Human beings. But of course the casting crew had to screw that up.Behold the "my-time-of-the-month" expression of K Stew.

sourse

When the books came out,it went viral in our class-we ALL judged the book by it's cover. It seemed so..poetic,I was enamored by it.Boy,was I fast a reader back then.I read on with gusto, not stopping for a moment to ponder over the absurdity of glittery men and women.No,really.What's UP with that?Dracula just turned in his grave.(ponder this) and I believe Anne Rice has resigned to a weightless world of Non-Alliance.
But then again, against my better judgement,I always watch the movies with some kind of queer hope I can't explain. It certainly is my guilty pleasure along with an occasional Sunday morning sing-along to my favourite pop bands of the nineties (Every baaaady yeah, yeaaaah).
Bug teased me endlessly as I told him about my plan-but then again I could always dive head first into my tub of popcorn and bitch with my best friend if things get too dull.Though I doubt it will.Darn-that queer hope again!

How was your weekend? Also,I'm sorry I've been so swamped managing my double life that I got left behind in my blog reading.Promise to catch up soon!

On a final note- I announced my Giveaway winners on twitter yesterday- Congratulations to Cerisse and Melissa-I look forward to working with you!The FTLOB Giveaway winner was also announced-congratulations to you too!Mail me and we can work out the details. For those of who didn't win watch this space for some more exciting Giveaways for the holidays!

P.s:Anybody read The Host by Stephanie Meyer? It's not half bad.

Sundays at home

Sundays at home are never lazy on account of my dad's military rule. The guy never, ever sits still. He is either fixing or cleaning something or the other,or tuned in to his work. And me?I be the laziest person you've ever laid eyes on.I'm a truckload of lazy. So,today dad as usual was  drilling away at something(huge D.I.Y guy) and that seemed to cause a spot of tension in Gypsy(furry creature).I was rolling around in my blanket with a cup of coffee checking and re-checking how fatal a blow  the url change hath dealt to my blog. After a while I felt motivated to do something and so I grabbed my camera and found that my dad wasn't a half bad subject this morn. The natural light  coming in from the window was an added bonus.

Dad at work.

His usual expression on seeing a pair of idle hands(usually me)
And me,with my new glasses!(Oh,a mirror photo-how original!)
I got new glasses-my eye is actually better now.Couple of months ago I had surgery in my left eye.Wearing wrong specs had resulted in ugly bulbous things that not only drove me to a pirate patch but were a bitch to have hanging around my eye.Hence,surgery.Apart from the doctor's suggestion, I understood that the glasses were not right for me because I could not manually focus with my camera. My eyes hurt and I usually left them at home resulting in even blurrier shots. What a pain. The new glasses solved all that.A thousand pagan Gods saved the day.
My dad used to freelance as a photographer when he was young. He was,and still is brilliant at it.Shooting in film,he had his own darkroom-I don't think I'll ever have that kind of patience.I am pretty happy shooting in digital-though I hear shooting with a  manual film camera is even more fun and challenging.I have to try that sometime before I reach a point in life where hobbies not only take a backseat-they are politely thrown out of the car.
I also had plans to watch a play today-however it didn't occur to me that shows for a stalwart production like King Lear need to be pre-booked.FAIL.The evening wasn't entirely wasted though-Bug(boyfriend extraordinaire) and I rolled around our usual rug of funny, heh.

How was your weekend?

I loose count

Multiple dreams, like orgasms are hard to keep track of-especially if you're having them in a span of one night's sleep and are in no way related. All my dreams feel horribly real and at times I'm aware I'm dreaming yet I can find no way to escape.
It is at this point that things become a tragicomedy.I'm amused by the means I take up to escape, and break a sweat at the possibilities that may befall  if I don't.It's funny and tragic at the same time.Sometimes scary, grotesque but never border on nightmarish.Maybe my fear threshold is only limited to hiding behind cushions during horror movies.
Funny thing? My dreams don't bother me-the sleeping ones.(the waking ones gnaw at the back of my mind till you can see right through it)I can wake up,step on my dog,pee and go right back to sleep.

My dreams don't unite my mind, body and spirit as some websites claim. They mostly aren't related to what I was thinking before I went to sleep-or maybe I'm too dumb to see the twisted link.I think Freud just gave me a very bony and dusty finger.

My dreams don't keep me up.Again, like orgasms they just give me this triumphant feeling of having finished.Et Voila.

My life as a literature student V1.

*FTLOB weekly prompt

Because version 1.0 just sounds so much cooler than Part 1.
I might have mentioned in passing that I'm a student of English literature-my writing reflects none of that erudition and carefully cultured sophistication.Like the cavalier poets I'm probably of  a new decadent genre called the "tramp writer".Bah.

So this week's been crazy. The syllabus in the third and concluding year is so much more vast and  interesting as opposed to  the incommodious time of completion .Thus we are left revering in the high imagination of the Romantics to questioning a diminutive self perception of Post Modernism in a matter of few hours.
Lamb to The Last ride Together.Jimmy Porter's angst,chauvinism and anger.Toru Dutt's Casuarina tree.R.K Narayan's post colonial  visions.
Just in the day in the life of a Literature student.

The Banana Democratic Republic

India as we know it,through various visions of Orientalism is the land of temples,yoga,chai,snake-charmers and food-good,good food and not merely curry.I don't know what variation is meted out to poor souls out of the country, but I can assure you our cuisine, like our Kamasutra, seeks to please and not terrorize. They also do not come with a complementary package of simultanous heart and butt-burn.Remember this the next time you're being duped.
India, however, is also home to pot-holes,sweaty armpits on buses and banana peels. The latter is about to play an important part in the narrative.
Much as I love the fair (or caramel) maiden called My Country,I often reject such tawdry practices as much disregard for a panda "wide open" with Use Me stamped across it.I believe the problem lies herein-the use of an animal or an ugly plastic imitation of The Wobbly Man as trash cans. The nation could be better trained in the use of a dustbin if plastic cutouts of womenfolk (barring Aishwarya Rai- we never speak too ill of the too plastic or the too pregnant) were used instead. The use of the words "Use Me" would then retain sufficient didactic characteristics and cheap pun veiled or unveiled as chosen to be seen by the "users".No,this is not a feminist rant.Hell,I'm not even one-this is just my injured dignity talking.

I love the rains. They refresh, rejuvenate and considerably bring down the god-damn heat.I also like bananas. But rains,a careless banana eater and me does not a godly communion make.Turns out people have not been fabricating comic relief out of slipping on banana peels all this time.It happens.Happens to us all.Happened to me today.Could happen to you too.The absurdity still hasn't hit me or I'd be crippled with laughter and unable to write this post-but here I am in careful and weirded out contemplation.

It's a known fact in the world where blogs are offline and on hold while unsuspecting people partake in their mundane existence that I am a klutz.I could fall down standing up and doing nothing.I would trip atleast once out on the road and risk loosing all my teeth.Today was no different-except perhaps the usual sequence manifested itself into a magnified form.
Sweta gets off bus, takes a step and WHAM!face down, butt up in the mud.Right in front of my college. For a horrible moment I expected a  goofy T.V douche to pop-out and say "SMILE!You're on *oh GOD NO* camera!"I picked up what was left of my ragged dignity and my cellphone and scurried into the campus-still in shock-still unsure whether too laugh or nurse my throbbing knee.

It happens to the best of us except not the best laugh comes out of it.Sorry,Injured Dignity on the line again.

Who am i kidding?

It's hilarious!

P.s:I'm fine.Ow my knee.

Life's Lemons

Easier said than done-the key is not to let them win.At all other times convince them that they have before they get the better of you and if they seem suspicious run like hell. Subjectively speaking, of course.

Have a Great weekend!

Mary Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow?

Frankly I have no idea-except this has been stuck in my head for the last ,er a lot of months since I Skyped with a stoned friend of mine.He kept singing it,artfully snipping weed and bobbing his head from side to side and going at it full rhythm.I tried to fix my shitty cam and even shittier internet connection which switches to double bitch-straight-up mode when I'm video calling. Its amusing at first and then gets crazy bad when I'm holding up something for people to see and they actually see it after an interval of 5 minutes.I have no idea why I'm bitching about it seeing that I've had case of bad tech karma lately -and I might as well shut up if I don't want to spend the next few days in a bored straight-jacket of godawful nothingness.

You could say this post is fairly random-I have been anything but random in the past couple of write ups and for an dirtpile  awesomely random gal like me the abstinence stinks. The  good part is-my exams are almost over and since its that time of the year when it's cloudy all day and drizzles and the smell of earth and cut grass wafts like seductive fumes into your nostrils-I might just be able enjoy some of those soon. But for now I need to get to bed and put my feverish ass to sleep.Sympathy please.(At this point I'm beginning to resent the undercurrent of cynic goo that has been lathered over this post so far.Or maybe I'm just far too pissed off.Maybe it's PMS)

I also managed to put the first of many finishing touches on my new template. You like? Also,I was thinking of doing a giveaway for some of the templates I made and in about a months time you'd probably be able to order templates a la carte right from yours truly.I have acquired a decent of HTML and CSS skills playing the field for a while and changing my templates way too often takes away the attention from my writing and tell-all  heart-the main reason why I blog.So I've that I might as well design for you guys.Tell me what you think!

I was also thinking of changing the name of my blog. The search results which led visitors to the Red Door are kinda-not pleasant.I mean its not chlamydiae-but close. Some searched for  kinky Japanese sex which apparently sells behind  red doors and some for sexually transmitted diseases which get cured behind red doors.Frankly,I neither run a dirty video parlor  nor a clinic with horizontal kicks. But these are not the reasons-I'm quite unimaginably nonchalant.Truth is,when I started this blog I was clueless about a name and I randomly came across a picture of a red door-a GORGEOUS red door the kind you would see or read about in fantasy and Gothic novels-and that just fed my fancy. And I like those kind of stories.
Everybody searches for a perfect name for their children, their dogs, their crushes and stabby ex-s,their cars(grow up!) and other inanimate objects(razors?panties?mixers?) and we the web-ed people search for the perfect name for our blogs. If I were to come clean, the current name doesn't help me near perfection, not warm, not even close! So change it is!
Have you ever changed the name of your blog?Did you have any problems changing the url, loosing readers, etc?Click the little button and tell the Oracle.
Chopchop!

silver bells, coccckkle shellss!Maaary,Maary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
And she has officially lost it.

Digital Extension- or how my gadgets echo my personality

..not by Dan Brown, but by me.

This is the story of a little girl who got lost in the woods one day and stumbled upon the world of gadgets. It wasn't a gingerbread house and she hasn't encountered any witches so far,but it has been a fascinating journey to say the least.
That little girl is me(where "little" is open for debate)

To introduce myself,I prefer sign language and brandishing a few crazy pictures to give you an idea of my heightened mojo because I can talk about  anything in the world with non-sensical allusions, except myself. For a pseudo, selfrespecting narcissist-that is a hurdle. I don't have a time machine that would speak for itself- that I parley with King Tut on weekends and go Desi on apparels with Gandhi and have coffee on one of those Boston tea-parties.Yet I try,and this is me trying.

I’ll be there for you( whether you like it or not)
I’ll be there for you to reckon with-online.2pm,2am.4pm,5:30 am. My misleading statements may hoodwink you into thinking that I’ll be a valuable addition to one of those Outsourcing units .It may or maynot be so-I'm mostly leaning towards maynot. I feel as if I’m missing a limb or all if  the dreaded “connection failure” dialogue boxes pop up-truth be told I have a strip of sorbitrates within arms reach for emergencies such as these. So I decided to cut loose and get myself a smart phone.

My Nokia E-5 is not an i-phone and I’m only 30k richer in the bank accounts (for now-that’something I don’t remember having 30k..)My networking jobs are done with élan and ease.I’m notified of new tweets or emails on my homescreen.Facebook and Twitter are just a few pattering of buttons away on the trusted Snaptu.Texting is so much easier and less tiring with the QWERTY keypad.Hell,I could go on without seeing my friends for weeks, yet I must leave my digital signature imprinted on them-and in this my phone is stuck to me like walls to Spiderman’s thumbpad.

Also, remember what phones were originally made for?Talking.Yea.I’m the passive aggressive caller. The first words that Alexander Graham Bell spoke into the phone(and et voila!it worked) was “Please come Watson, I need you!”(pun unintended,ofcourse)-yea I’ll do that to you if I have your number and we are kinda close. You can do that to me too.

I tunes
If you were born in the nineties,or survived it-you must have had walkman, right?A sony one most likely.I did, too.AA bateries and fluffy earphones were my personal nirvana-whether on train rides or on the treadmill(fat kid,yo!).
I buffered the whole Cd-man era and landed up with an ipod 4g.Elcectric blue and sleek,a mixture of rounded and sharp edges-it is me all the way.
The Show off
Everybody does that right?Especially if you’re thirteen.I couldn’t complete a single game without a cheat, yet for a brief time I rejoiced having  Gameboy Advance to tote around. However for a change,I did get to the end of NFS underground and Castlevania on this.Woohoo.
Not to mention my killer instincts while I brought down ducks on T.V,with vengeance!Duck hunt anyone?

T-200 Cyborg father(I could only be kidding, but you never know)
This one is a valuable inheritance, folks.
I’m pretty sure the man never sleeps. He is the last to go to bed and the first up.Has the heart rate of a 25 year old and at 55 not a single grey.He is the exact antipode of my lazy junk-food eating self.I’m pretty sure I’d be snowed by  30 and dead by 35.Macbeth and Banquo folks-extension of my personality in a grotesque, intimidating way.

Vintage Vogue
To pick up on the history strain,to be tongue in cheek and with a sub-sandwich with satire sauce in hand, let me tell you Skippy,I'm a history nerd.I positively weep with pleasure and am besotted with dusty old magnanimous world-changing events.
Treaty of Versailles?1919.My Ram? 1 Gb DDR.
Pearl harbour?7 December 1941 (ironically the day my parents got married 40 years later...hmm.)
My processor?3 Ghz..single core!
Eichman!Roschman!
Windows Xp!Sp 3!
Get the drift?I'm a good person to have under an invisibility cloak or on wire on a history exam(tsk! ).But heavy core push-me-down-heave-ho-digital lifting? Not enough protein shake.

Au contraire, I remember having a computer in the house for as long as I can remember. My dad had one of those gargantuan floppy booting ones in the late-eighties to early nineties.Later on we moved to one booting a windows 95 and I remember fighting with dad to play Minesweeper (scoff!?don't!) or that pixelly Prince of Persia thing. Our home was one of the firsts to get one of those crackling dial-up VSNL connections in the city .I played spongebob and barbie flash games and bumped up the telephone bill, and when dad upgraded to a broadband connection I’m pretty sure I threw a party.
On a serious note dad’s old lenses are kind of a treasure trove. If you’re a photography geek you’ll appreciate the value of film cameras , 55mm micro nikkor and a  slightly different 70-210 zoom lens and the lot-all back from the 80’s alive, kicking, wooing.
There’s a mixture of old-school and  rambunctious farsightedness in me and instances such as these allow me to reflect how, even if on coincidence,my personality dictates and wraps my head around the things I use.
A Picture is a Thousand Words or The Pathological Picture taker
..And with two cameras strapped to my hip,it becomes a whole lot easier.
My first digital camera ( not counting the two meg one on my old Nokia n-70) is the Canon point and shoot-it gets the job done at a party or wildfire outings with friends. But if you’re int aesthetics like me,a DSLR is all the way to go.
I have been shooting some with my dad’s old Nikon f3,but I lack the patience of clicking, waiting and then being totally shocked at how bad the pictures turned out.I’d rather see it right then.Since I’m just learning the ropes and am majorly impatient, digital was the way to go.So, early this year dad got me an entry level DSLR a NIKON(ofcourse) D3100.

And it was a good buy ,for,in a Nikon you can use lenses from far back in the 50s since they haven’t changed their mount (the ring where the lenses make themselves comfy). And,like my Nikon, old and new, you won’t find elements of radicle change in me.Whimsical on other accounts, but not on my outlook or the way I see the world.Change if  be,must be gradual, easy to deal with and logical. Those are the fixed elements in me and it feels good when you have something in hand which reflects your personality.

This post is written for Indiblogger's Change is Easy  contest sponsored by Dell Inspiron Laptops.Change is easy?Dell makes it seem so,in a practical enough way with oodles of oppurtunity to personalise.Human beings are multidimensional and the Change is Easy line of laptops reflects that very strain in everyone. It reflects your individuality. It shows how alike you can or want to be.It's the Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of modern technology with much less toxic and much more fascinating consequences.

What do your gadgets say about you?

Fill in the Blank Friday

So I have been chasing Fridays and and timezones so I could do one of these..Angie always has hers meticulously up - the Wee bit Wednesdays and the Fill in the Blank Fridays and I always come across them when it's past midnight here.Timezone's a bitch. So today, instead of my usual afternoon Dexter therapy I decided to riffle through my favourite blogs and partake in spreading what is known as a blog infection or meme.

Here's mine today..
So here's how I'm gonna do it-There are blanks.I'm gonna fill them up.And,today is,uh,Friday.
Steal it and hop on over to Lauren's blog to link up!

Exhausted

I wonder how people lived before the internet-were they even stabbier than before? Were they zombies? Did the internet break the curse and turn them back into their non-Inferi status with its magical, healing touch?
For as long as I can remember back into the mid-nineties we've had an internet connection(brag much?)..that while connecting via the telephone line made such a profane use of sound , always made me wonder if anybody would pick up and go "Hello!Serial killer on the line.."

So where was I?Yes,exhausted. So a couple of days ago I tried to harness my old horse with a heavier sadle, that is,my six year old desktop running a 1 GB DDR[like antique in geekspeak] with the super sleek windows 7.

Your Inked lady

So finally I got my second tattoo after weeks of mulling over designs, creating, rejecting almost getting something horrible done and getting checked in the process (that's what best friends are for, thank god).
Carpe Diem.
A phrase that has come to mean a lot to me only recently.I had a certain inclination towards it while we studied the Metaphysical poets in college last year and their modern (like seventeenth century modern;) }treatment of  Horus' ancient theme.
.I love meaningful tattoos-one which has something behind it-a reason,a thought or some belief-makes it all the more special, methinks. Both of my tattoos are very close to my heart and I believe I have chosen them wisely for frankly I'll never stop being a Leo,loving Egypt or attempting to procrastinate.

*haul up chains,mush ahead.

from here via we <3 it

The First Kiss
There was always something about a starry sky and fireworks that emanated  the First kiss vibes, for 16 year olds anyway.[Pardon the cynicism,I'm a vile, vile woman]

There I was-not really pretty hovering about average, nervous ,cold feet thankfully no sweaty underarms and according to me, in my first date best.(Seriously,no hideous clothes.)

Never had a boyfriend before.Check.
Hopelessly in love.Check.
Almost a foot taller than me.Toffee coloured eyes.Must gouge out and feed on them.Stop that!Intimidated.Check.
A brand new creature I had known for the last 12 years.Check.
Nervous wreck.Double Check.

I name it..Writing excercise..Tada!

Often in life you'd wish it resembled a movie-that you have a steady flow of witty commentary , that "music played in epic moments of your lives and not just in movies"(<--how many of you have "liked" that on Facebook?) and that you get standing ovation and a screen award or 7 on your unusual ending.

Of this I've gotten only the commentary part covered. That too  often on pause and repeat.

Also,I have no idea where this post is headed. So unless its raining outside and you've already fed your dog,had your daily orgasm or just plain gotten off work and looking for writing roadkill, I say you kick it  and move on.

However,I must admit I do do love people who stick around with  no purpose at all ;)

Egypt and Ink

So,this February I didn't have a Valentine
But I had ink.
And thats damn fine.

I was freaked. But, the pain was taken care off-seeing that it doesn't hurt much and is mostly its like a mild irritation/scratching on the fleshy parts and a bit of teeth gritting OW-ness on the bones. But then, your pain threshold might differ-yet it isn't unbearable-that much I can vouch for.

My tattoo is an amalgamation of The Eye of Ra with the Leo Symbol.
For me,The Eye of Ra which is the symbol of protection, royal power and good health (dear wiki )will be a constant reminder that the protection I seek in hours of dire need, and if none comes from an external source,I must not forget that the power to protect also lies within me,myself. This is meant  as a mark of respect to my rights and abilities as a human being I believe in a relationship, any relationship, when you find that you are willing to change too much of yourself, thats a prudent time to question your importance and position in it.These are just my thoughts though, you may prefer to hold dissimilar opinions. The protection of my self respect is my positive way of feeling powerful in every situation.
Also,because I love all things Egypt :)

And leo?Because I am one.

Generous and warmhearted
Creative and enthusiastic
Broad-minded and expansive
Faithful and loving

On the dark side....

Pompous and patronizing
Bossy and interfering.

{Interfering?Not so much ;)}

...and I love it!

I love my new tattoo and I can't wait to get my next one.Incidentally,I took part in this lucky draw in the tattoo studio..and I won a 5 sq inch tattoo.I'm stoked!
I'll be finalizing the design tomorrow and getting inked(again) next week.Time of my life? kinda ! ;)

P.s:If you're in Calcutta,or planning to visit-get inked at Lizard's Skin Tattoos-the best tattoo studio in town.Hands down.

Random Update#1

^^ That always works when you can't think of a title I guess..

Don't you just have an OVERLOAD of ideas when you have SO MUCH TO DO?
That's right.Exam time.Ding ding.
But right now all I want to do is
Watch Sex and the City All over again!(It's my guilty pleasure and source of sassy quotes)

From one of the very first episodes:

"Welcome to the age of un-innocence.Nobody has breakfast at Tiffany's and affairs to remember.Instead,we have breakfast at 7am and affairs we try to forget as quickly as possible"{Carrie}
 And going deep..don't slow down..

“The only thing that I have ever successfully made in the kitchen is a mess. And several little fires." {Carrie}
 Yep,been there.

“I will never be the woman with the perfect hair, who can wear white and not spill on it.”{Carrie}
Troodat.

"Honey,men cheat and dogs lick their balls for one reason-because they can"{Samantha}

I don't really believe that-and it and it totally dindingdings the very PC part of my brain..
But hey-you can't please everyoneespecially the ones who broke your heart
But,It's fun!

What was to be a{updates} random post turned into my SATC groupie post<---bad dog!..but no more!(for now)

Resume updates.

Hell-isn't sleep just directly proportional to the proximity of exams?Me hates.

I got two shiny trophies(blog awards) recently and can't wait to pass them on! :)
Thanks Lynn and Purplemoonbeam!

{^^thats some hotness right there!-Check them out!}

I'm not overly in love with exams-they are tolerable-as long as I'm prepared ha!
But I took a fleeting moment to do my round Around the World, anyway.

Go play!
Back on your blogs after the 21st!
Miss me.
{please?}

10 February 2011

My Dad never told me how much is too much..

...Probably because he never knew that I would put on my mermaid pants, jump in the ocean and come out clean without any trace of the scaly paraphernalia as evidence.(Have I significantly creeped you out yet?)

Last time I happened to give only a shady view, mere empirical data.I never got around to establish what kind of a drunk I am-which is quite difficult to demarcate-but, one which I believe, can be aptly described by a Bengali saying we have.Roughly translated it stands at- “Drunk by nature,Sober by practice” ;)

“Better me than a horny frat boy,” was what my father had said when he mixed me my first drink.I had slept well that night.(Author's note:I'm not sure horny was the word he had used-but I guess it does add pizazz to the dialogue and make my dad seem a whole lot cooler.)

You see,my association with alcohol has always been with one singular purpose-“Let’s get piss drunk”.How much is too much was never a point to considerUnderstandably,I have a lot of growing up to do.But here’s the fun and tragic part-it takes me one hell of a lot of the happy juice to go from Buckingham Palace guard to Mr.Wobbly Man.Meanwhile on the trippy road,I enjoy getting other people drunk and  watching them act out the painted fool in them.I mean,I don’t do it on purpose(so what if I did?Hell’s a lot hotter than Heaven anyway)-there are people who know how to conduct themselves, there are people who don’t.And it’s not taking advantage if the trapeze tricks from barstool to neighboring tables are voluntary.

Half-way across the channel we conclude:I’m a sadomasochist drunk with a conscience-which, in a way, negates the sadomasochist part and begs that I be better educated about the definition of the said term.

Also, when alcyhol goes tingly toes into my system,my senses become heightened-almost like a temporary genetic mutation into some creepy spidy-woman.Scratch that. The only thought that buzzes around my head-and successfully kills the buzz-is that I MUST return home sober(if I'm planning to return<---read:threatened at gunpoint that I absolutely must)-Or I’d be sleeping forever in a coffin that most definitely wouldn’t be mahogany, nor lined with velvet cushions.

Three-quarter way in:I’m a scared drunk,or-hardly drunk at all.

And last but not the least, the Magic Eraser drunk.
My entire persona-I’m a goofball and a hunchback with a warped sense of humour-which blurs the lines between my sober slurs and drunken drivels. This is a Divine Gift,my friend.Absolutely Heaven Sent on a winged horse that probably farted scented rainbows. How can you let it go to waste? You Mustn’t.

(Power to you if you can figure out if this was a sober slur or a drunken drivel ;) )

Till then…

One Tequila…Two Tequila…Three Tequila..floor!more!

P.s:What kind of a drunk are you?

Project Do Me

My Project 365 is on hold-till I get a better camera,or my motivation, time, creativity and peace of mind back. However,Kymmy and Audrey Hepburn both  believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.I couldn't agree more.
Hence Project Do Me

 My Daily goals:
  • Increase my intake of fruits and veggies.
  • Spend at least 15 minutes on taking care of my skin
  • Put in an hour of studying every day,if not more.(how is this making me happy?Well, this completes my syllabus in time and prevents me from becoming a complete wreck on the night before the exam.Pre-planning rawks.rawr.)
  • Read at least 10 pages of a book.I hate leaving books incomplete..and lately I have been doing too much of that![Wind up your forearm and Popeye punch me,no seriously.]
  • 30 minutes on the treadmill, without fail.A good workout always leaves me with a lot of energy to battle it out through the day.
  • Stop thinking about what could have been.Accept that I had a lot of love to give, and I did.I did my best.Breathe,Heal,Learn to Love.
My Weekly Goals:
  • Call up my best friend at least once a week.Ever since she and I went to different colleges, the phone calls have diminished.Studies, assignments, classes, separate social circles etc have encroached,However,I still feel that deep connection within me.And I have to let her know that she floats my boat.
  • Take at least 2 new photos.
  • Have a fruits only diet once.
  • Make atleast  3 blog posts.
  • Read and comment on all the blogs I follow.
  • Have a pizza free week.
My Monthly Goals:
  • Finish at least two books.
  • Aim at losing 4 kgs per month. That makes it 1 kg per week.
  • Write at least two short stories or poems.
  • Watch at least 3 foreign movies.

Here's to a happy me! :)

Repapering my walls

My E-walls that is.I finally got around to change things around on this blog and come up with a new design(which you're now seeing LIVE!)I'm not too excited with the menu bar(edit:I added images, but  its still under construction),so I'm looking to change it to something classy/snazzy but nothing over the top. We'll see.

I LOVE playing around with new looks, and though this might change in a few months,I'm satisfied the way it turned out.Once upon a time I wanted to make a part-time career option  out of it-but never got around to setting it up.However,if you need help-feel free to holler.I'm not a pro-most of the time I end up turning a mango into a goose(Whatever you do have a Test blog handy-makes it easier to turn the goose back into a mango)-but it's always exciting to try new things (except cuisine-I have a phobia, but that's for another day!)

Love it?Hate it?

Here's for the grabbing!
Manic Mother

Tell me where I can grab yours!
(gee that sounds soo dirrrty) *wink*

  • Get started on redesigning this blog.I like this design,but I'm going for something more..handcrafted?(suggest some ideas..vintage?colourful?shabang?grownup?Go on,comment!  )
  • Read more.I bought a whole stack of new books at the Calcutta Book Fair. This goes on my Project Do Me:read more.
  • Draw up a list for Project Do Me.Ugh..I was supposed to this Monday!
  • Catch up on your blogs!(just because it's low on the list doesn't mean it's low on priority)*wink*
  • Clean my room.
