Childhood crazies and fancies

Or what I had and what I wanted for the effing love of the blessed life!

The first thing I remember craving so much that it almost made me want to curl up into a ball was-dramatic(and  disappointing) pause- to be a Witch like Samantha from Bewitched (remember that show?).I tweak my lips and VOILA magic!I also adored this playhouse that her daughter had-all wooden and cozy with tiny furniture.Harry Potter was nowhere in the scene then -or  probably was and I hadn't read it then.I also LOVED Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie and her little room inside the bottle-it's decor in pink and gold with persian throw rugs, cushions and other ornate goodies.

Can we say BAh-LING!

Speaking of magical creatures,I've never had any special regard towards with unicorns. But fairies? That's something else.I had a rather weird obsession with  Tinkerbell.I believed in Tink,oh I did and there's this line from Peter Pan that's my absolute favourite-
"There ought to be one fairy for every boy and girl."
"Ought to be? Isn't there?"
"No. You see children know such a lot now, they soon don't believe in fairies, and every time a child says, 'I don't believe in fairies,' there is a fairy somewhere that falls down dead."

I wanted a fairy of my own-not just any fairy,I wanted Tinker bell.

And oddly enough,I never prayed so that I could be a witch or have Tink spread some happy sparkles around me-I meditated(every day for 2 mins in my fluffy blue flannel bath gown).I guess being born in India does that to you- you inadvertently gravitate towards spirituality.

Among other fun things I remember longing for a tent in the jungle with a little gas lamp-hunched over a book,a sleeping bag lying in wait and fireflies forming a dome around the peak of the tent. And again, not just any tent- somewhat of a desert tent.My world is rather surreal- immensely real to me but may not be on the same perception of accepted standards of reality-and instead of being worried,I've always reveled in that.
something similar, except smaller and none of those chairs and tables  rubbish.
I'll also take the one in the movie The Holiday

  4. Sadly I don't remember my whims, crazies, and fancies of my childhood. I do remember being in love with Barbie, American Girl (still am on that one), and Disney princesses. As an adult, I fancy my first kiss and my first date. But as a shy girl in her mid-20s, I know that's a crazy fancy. So I'll just settle with wanting to be in the 20s, 40s, 50s, 60s, or 70s (I love American history - which is probably why I still like American Girl :)).
